9 requirements must be met to obtain a UAE family residency visa
January 08, 2024
Are you sponsoring your spouse, parents, children, or step-children?
Dubai: You must first ensure that you have a valid resident visa in order to sponsor family members in the UAE. This could be a self-sponsored visa such as a Golden, Investor, or Green visa, or it could be a work visa sponsored by your employer.
You can sponsor your family members after obtaining your visa. You must, however, meet a few conditions in order to be qualified to sponsor your family members. The following nine conditions must be met:
- If their family members hold a valid visa or residency permit, expatriate residents can sponsor them to live in the United Arab Emirates.
- A minimum salary of Dh4,000 or Dh3,000 plus accommodation is required from the sponsor. The kind of profession a foreign employee does is no longer a barrier to his ability to sponsor his family’s visas.
- Family members who are over the age of 18 must take and pass medical fitness exams at authorized health facilities in the United Arab Emirates. Those who are medically unfit will not be issued a residency permit. In addition to being considered medically fit, residents with dormant or inactive pulmonary tuberculosis received a one-year “Health Fitness Certificate for Residence,” subject on treatment and monitoring by the relevant health authority.
- Once a dependents enters the UAE with an entry permit, the resident sponsor has sixty days to apply for the dependent’s residence visa. A residency visa must be requested for babies born in the United Arab Emirates within 120 days of the baby’s birth.
- You must sponsor both of your parents together in order to sponsor them. Official documentation supporting the divorce or passing away of a parent would be required in order to sponsor only one of the parents.
- Regardless of how long the sponsor’s visa lasts, parents who are sponsored will receive an annual residence visa. The immigration office of the emirate that issued your visa will specify the salary requirement, which you must also meet.
- Only if the daughter is unmarried and with no age restrictions can an expatriate resident sponsor her.
- Up until the age of 25, either a male or female resident may sponsor their son. There are no age restrictions on the son’s sponsorship if he is a Person of Determination.
- Under the restrictions set forth by the emirate’s immigration office, an expatriate resident may sponsor his stepchildren. For instance, in accordance with the requirements set forth by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA-D), the sponsor must provide a signed no-objection certificate (NOC) from the biological parent together with a deposit for each kid. Their residency permits are renewable once every year after the initial year.
Cancellation of Visa
The residence permits of the sponsoring family member are connected to the family’s residence permits. In the event that the sponsoring family member’s visa is canceled, the visas of the dependents must also be canceled.
Dependents who have had their visas cancelled or expiring soon have six months to apply for a new residency permit. A punishment may be imposed on the sponsor if they neglect to cancel or renew their dependents’ visas.
